The miracle of opening doors in my mind

I have been working very hard for the last couple of months on a project proposal to work with the military on a program for military spouses.  As is my habit, I’ve been eating, sleeping, breathing, thinking, and talking about almost nothing else for quite a while (well, I might have talked about a few other things…)  🙂

During my deep blue funk of the past couple of weeks, I got really down about moving forward with this program.  After two months of feeling like I had the world on a string and could make anything happen, I began to feel like absolutely nothing could possibly work.

That funk started to lift over the weeekend and has gotten progressively better over the course of this week (thank goodness!)

And then today…the miracle.  I don’t usually watch Oprah (the TVs in my apartment are strictly for DVDs because I don’t have cable) but I had heard that Michelle Obama would be on today’s show talking about military families.  Mrs. Obama is a major proponent of programs and support for military families, so she has been on my radar as someone whom I’d like to contact.  I had the opportunity to watch the show today and became completely re-inspired to move forward – not just with making the program go, but with contacting Mrs. Obama directly.

So here’s to shooting for the moon!  I feel doors opening in my mind again that have been shut for the last couple of weeks.  I am so aware that the Universe shows me things at exactly the moment that I’m ready to see them and not a moment earlier.  Thank you Universe for the miracle of opening the door and showing me the next path.  I am so grateful.

PS – If you know someone who knows someone who knew Mrs. Obama in 8th grade, I’d love to hear from you.  Any path to Mrs. Obama, Mrs. Jill Biden (the 2nd lady), head honchos at the Department of Defense, or special events coordinators on military bases is fair game, so please let me know if you can help!  Thank you so much.

I’m wondering if the National Guard Family Readiness Program might be any less bureaucratic than the Army. I love your idea for helping the families of deployed military.

Thank you, William. At this point I have switched my focus to the National Guard for exactly that reason. But there is still lots of work to do. If you have any more insights or suggestions, I’d love to hear them.

[…] As I mentioned the other day, I’ve spent the last couple of months working diligently to craft a proposal to work with the spouses of deployed military members.  Today I had the great pleasure of meeting with a friend who is both a Marine and a lawyer.  I gave him the proposal and asked him to look it over to see if I’d made any glaring “civilian” errors, since I don’t have experience with military formats and jargon.
