Last year I took a business class that was really fun and interesting. One of the best parts of it is that the students from the class really bonded and we still get together every couple of months for a potluck. Tonight was one of those nights.
I was chatting with one of the women in the group about online dating. We were talking about how important each piece of the process is – the initial message, the email conversation, the phone conversation, the meeting in person, etc. She came up with this metaphor that we just kept extending that made me laugh really hard:
You may see one across the store and immediately know that it’s not your color.
You might pick one up to look more carefully and find that you don’t like how it feels.
You take one in the dressing room and try it on…but it doesn’t fit.
Another one does fit, so you buy it and take it home…where you realize that it doesn’t go with anything in your closet.
And finally there’s that one special sweater – the one hiding in all the racks of clothes – that you take home and it becomes your very favorite sweater…the one that you put on all the time just because it makes you happy.
We’re looking for our favorite sweaters. What about you? Have you found your sweater or are you still looking?
