Quiet, please

Day #2 of starting the day with stretching and meditation and I have to say – I think there’s something to it.  🙂  I had what could have been a very stressful day at work with some big moving pieces of the project I’m working on changing significantly just a couple days before the deadline.  But I didn’t freak out.

In fact, I was remarkably calm through the whole thing and I seem to have this belief that everything is going to work out fine.  Even though I don’t think I have enough material; even though I think the material I have isn’t up to my usual standards; even though it all feels pretty tenuous – I’m calm.

I have gotten into a habit of having busy mornings before I go to work – writing lots of emails, maybe watching a little television, running around eating breakfast and making lunch.  The last few days my mornings have been extremely quiet.  And it feels good.  It feels much more gentle on my system.  I’ll be interested to see how/if this continues.  I think it’s really good for me.

It’s all got me thinking about another potential Challenge – 30 days of doing something for ourselves that we know is good for us, but we don’t usually take the time to do.  For instance, drinking enough water.  Or walking for 10 minutes.  Or playing with the cat.  Whatever it is that we know would bring more joy/peace/calm/vibrancy to our lives that we haven’t been giving ourselves.  What do you think?  Is that a Challenge you want to participate in?

    This sounds like something I should do! 🙂 I agree that quiet mornings make for a better day, and can attest that 10 minutes of kitty cuddles will set a nice tone for the day 🙂 I usually have both cats cuddling and purring, and that makes the day seem brighter (for me and for them I think!)

    Awesome, Deb! 🙂 I’ll wait a little while to start this one – maybe some time around Thanksgiving-ish, when the cold is coming and having a few minutes to rest from the craziness of the holidays would be good for lots of us.

    I like this challenge idea, too! It’s kind of what I’ve been doing in this challenge but I can amp it up by picking morning to be mindful for a chunk of quiet time. Love it.
    I love this whole challenge concept!
