Completely in

Last night’s post was a big deal – it took a lot of time to write it last night, but it took years to get to it.

As I reflected on it today, I had another shattering realization – I’m all in.

In every past relationship, I’ve had one foot in and one foot out.

Okay, let me be completely honest.  In every past relationship, I’ve had a quarter of a foot in and one and three quarters of my feet out.  I was always ready to run at the least provocation.

For the first time I’m in.  Completely in.  I’m ready to not run.

Writing that reminds me of the scene in Gilmore Girls when Luke tells Lorelai the story about carrying the horoscope around in his wallet for all those years and says, “This thing we’re doing here. Me, you. I just want you to know, I’m all in. I am all in.”  (I tried to find a video clip to paste in, but couldn’t…so sadly you’ll just have to remember it or imagine it in all its sappy gooey-ness.  :-) )

Would you be willing to change everything in your life, leave your family and friends and go to build a new life with this person? It takes courage to venture out of the comfort zone. I am not sure I could do it without being absolutely certain that we were mutually “in it all the way”.

It’s a really good question, Leslie, and one that is on my mind a lot. Moving to be with Mr. Blue Eyes would be a huge step outside my comfort zone. I trust that when the time is right, we’ll both know it! :-)
