Here is the second of my monthly check-ins on how I’m doing with paying down debt and getting my financial life in order.
Last month I set the goal of putting an extra $1000 payment toward credit card debt. However part way through the month I decided to make an adjustment in my spreadsheet – a technical change to calculate my income from credit card due date to due date, rather than from the 1st to the 31st. It doesn’t affect the amount of money I’ve got, but for one month it meant that I had one less paycheck.
Given that, I’m pretty pleased that I still made a payment of $731.61. The extra week that got tacked on to this month is useful, too, because this is a pretty lean month so far in terms of website income. I’m hopeful that I can make a good credit card payment at the end of February, but right now I can’t predict how much it will be. (If you’d like to download a copy of the kick-ass spreadsheet I created, you can download it here. There’s more information about how to use it here.)
Earlier this month I was contacted by my high school to do some freelance writing for their website and alumni magazine. That will be a nice addition to my income when that gets swinging. My goal is to eventually be making the bulk of my income from paid writing assignments (the newspaper and freelance writing) plus coaching and teaching.
Speaking of teaching, I had the great pleasure of speaking tonight at the Center For Collaborative Energies about practical applications of the Law of Attraction (also known as “Oh Lord, Won’t You Buy Me A Mercedes Benz”… ). They were a terrific group and we had a good time talking about why the Law of Attraction doesn’t always bring all of the riches that you keep affirming are on their way to you…and what’s required to get it moving. I’ll be doing this presentation again in June at the American Society of Dowsers national convention. I hope to have some video from tonight’s presentation to put up on the website…if I can figure out how to download it from my Flip Video camera.
I’m taking a few days off this weekend so you may or may not hear from me again before Monday. Have a miraculous weekend!
