Leah Carey, part 2

Geez, you’re really interested, aren’t you?  🙂

Leah attended Brandeis University, receiving a degree in Theatre (acting and directing with an emphasis in stage management). During college, she spent every summer working at professional theatres around the country.

After graduating college, she went into professional theatre full-time, working primarily as a stage manager at prestigious companies and festivals including Goodspeed Opera House, Lincoln Center, and the Spoleto USA Festival. She was privileged to work both on- and off-Broadway during a brief sojourn in New York.

In 2004, Leah decided to try her hand at developing a new kind of theatre – one where people wrote and performed words about their own life experiences. She has used the Live. Write. Share. workshop model she created to work with groups with many different life experiences including breast cancer survivors, seniors going through the aging process, etc. Every group is different, but there is one comment that is heard at every workshop and performance in some form – “I thought I was alone. I thought I was the only one who felt that way. Now I know that I’m not.” And that comment, in all its many forms, is what excites Leah so much about the work that she does.
